What if your IT professional quit tomorrow?

Just imagine the situation. It's Monday morning, you arrive at your office and find a notice on your desk that your IT guy is quitting with no notice. Whether he is your employee or a independent professional, what would you do? Do you have a plan?

Would you have the information you needed to transition to a new provider or hire a new IT professional or is it all in your IT professionals head?

Don't be caught off guard! Make sure you have the following critical information documented and accessible:

  • All usernames, passwords, and administrator information for computers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
  • All usernames and passwords for your technology vendor’s portals including your email provider, website host, domain registrar and other 3rd party vendors.
  • Purchased software and product keys
  • Diagram of your network structure with IP addresses, devices, and how they are connected
  • Documented backup and recovery plan
    • Do you know how long a recovery would take and what the steps are?

If you don't have any of the above information easily accessible, now is the time to gather it and store it in a safe place. If you need help with this process and would like to assess your situation, nology can help with a free technology assessment.
